Kitesurf trips Égypte (Mer Rouge)

The Red Sea is the warmest, clearest water you can ride 4 hours' flight from Belgium. Two approaches: a boat kitesafari to discover untouched spots wind-driven, or a fixed-base stay (Safaga, El Gouna) to progress at your own pace. Reliable thermal wind half the year.

The spot

Central and southern Red Sea: sandbanks, sheltered lagoons, crystal-clear water. Safaga has a lagoon protected by a sandbank (shallow beginner zone + foil area). A kitesafari accesses spots you can't reach from shore.

Wind

Thermal wind from the north, 15–25 knots, more consistent from April. Water at 22–28°C, butter-flat conditions in the protected lagoons.

Season

April to October for wind. October to May for mild temperatures (but less reliable wind in winter).

Level

All levels. Sheltered lagoons perfect for beginners, ocean-side waves for advanced riders. Most kitesafaris also accept complete beginners.

Good to know

The kitesafari is the most adventurous option: a new spot every day, wind-driven. Fixed-base = cheaper and simpler logistics. Can be paired with a cultural stop in Cairo or diving in Marsa Alam.
