The kitesurfing Mecca of southern Morocco. A 40 km lagoon, endless flat water, a thermal wind that blows almost every day and a dry climate year-round. Dakhla is the go-to spot to learn, level up or run a sports trip without pressure.

The spot
Lagoon closed off by a sandbar facing the Atlantic. Sandy bottom, shallow water, side-shore and offshore depending on the side. Several distinct zones: Speedspot (learning), Pointe du Dragon (intermediates), Foum Labouir (ocean-side waves).
Wind
Thermal wind from the north-east, 18–30 knots, close to 300 days per year. Wind statistics among the best in the world.
Season
March to October for high season (wind + warmth). April–May and September–October offer the best wind / temperature trade-off.
Level
Ideal for beginners (shallow water, sandy bottom, steady wind). Equally good for advanced riders thanks to the length of the lagoon and the fast rides.
Good to know
Far from the choppy ocean, Dakhla is also perfect for wingfoil and kitefoil. Several camps offer freestyle coaching. No wetsuit needed most of the year.
