Kitesurf trips Brésil

Northeast Brazil (Ceará, Piauí) is the downwind paradise. Steady trade winds 6 months a year, water and air at 30°C, endless palm-lined beaches, turquoise lagoons. You can ride point-to-point between fishing villages or set up base at a fixed spot (Lagoinha, Cumbuco, Préa).

The spot

Ceará coast: 300+ km of beaches and lagoons in a row. Lagoa do Jegue (flat, freestyle), Préa, Jericoacoara, Tatajuba, Barra Grande, Atins (Lençóis Maranhenses). Isolated lagoons in the dunes for private sessions.

Wind

Southeast trade winds 17–25 knots, almost daily. Water at 28–30°C, board-shorts the whole season.

Season

July to January (high wind season). Peak wind August–December. Rainy season February to June.

Level

All levels at fixed bases. Itinerant downwind requires self-sufficiency: toeside, self-rescue, onshore wind handling, and good fitness for 30–50 km per day.

Good to know

The Brazilian downwind is one of the most memorable kite trips in the world. If you're not ready, go for a fixed base with lagoons + beach. Small time difference (–4 h), direct flights from Brussels or Paris to Fortaleza.
